Inspired by a Mediterranean style planting this design evolved into a garden to compliment the strong lines of the existing hardscaping and to help blur the lines into the rural landscape.  The use of ornamental grasses creates movement with the wind and gives a naturalistic feel. The island welcomes you with two large Pohutukawa’s, underplanted with species that blend with existing planting.  Strong form at the front entrance in the shape of topiary balls underplanted with a soft groundcover adds a refined classical style with a sculptural twist.
